Sports activities in the cosmopolitan city of Munich

Numerous visitors stay at the Laimer Hof because of its wonderful location next to Nymphenburg Palace. Joggers are simply delighted by the Palace Park with its two lakes, park palaces, long canal and, with any luck, the chance of coming across one or two deer - and all this in the middle of a large city like Munich. Our guests are also welcome to hire one of the hotel's bicycles to explore Munich and its surroundings in this active way. Incidentally, Munich is very cycle-friendly and our hotel is one of the few that are certified by the ADFC German cycling association.

Activities in Munich

In winter curling is possible on the Nymphenburg Canal - with floodlights, even in the evening too: simply unique! Incidentally: there is a large conservation area behind the palace wall, where locals go cross-country skiing in winter. In the Hirschgarten, guests can play curling, hire curling sliders and reserve a curling lane. Since 1982, the most popular place for squash and badminton in Munich has been the Parkclub Nymphenburg, just a 12-minute walk or,5 minutes by bike from the hotel. At ESV München, probably the most modern and largest sports centre in Munich, guests can play tennis and beach volleyball (just a few minute's walk from the hotel!). All blade and skating fans will be equally delighted by the Hirschgarten Skatepark .

Our tip!

Attending a game with one of the various clubs or sports teams in Munich is always a great experience and very varied: FC Bayern football and also FC Bayern basketball, TSV 1860 München, Redbull München ice-hockey, MSC München or the Munich Cowboys. There is something for everyone here.

Olympiapark

The Munich Olympic Park was the venue for the XX. Olympic Summer Games in 1972. The Olympic Stadium, Olympic Hall and Olympic
Tower are some of the most important buildings in the Bavarian capital. Numerous events, concerts, fairs, festivals and shows provide entertainment throughout the year.

Our tip: the pavilion roof tour in the Olympic Stadium or, for daring visitors, an abseiling tour with over 40m of abseiling. The Munich Marathon is a race in Munich that has been taking place every year on the second Sunday in October since its revival in 2000. Its is now one of the top five marathons in Germany in terms of participants, attracting runners from all over Europe. The event also includes a 10-km run, a marathon relay race and a half marathon.
