Lake Chiemsee

Lake Chiemsee or the 'Bavarian Sea' is the largest lake in Bavaria and the third largest one in Germany. It is situated in the foothills of the Alps.

Attractions on the Lake

A boat trip across Lake Chiemsee to King Ludiwg's Palace on Herrenchiemsee island and the picturesque Fraueninsel is something really special. On the Herreninsel it is possible to visit the region's most well known attraction all year: Herrenchiemsee Palace, built by King Ludwig II from 1878 until his death in 1886, on the lines of Versailles. The Fraueninsel has a very special attraction with its famous Frauenwörth Benedictine Convent.
